Dumbwaiters are lifts for transport of food and smaller goods. They can be delivered in different sizes or executions varying in lifts for plates or trolleys.
Very special are our sundeck dumbwaiters which go through the sundeck and have their top landing for instance under the bar. With the use of the bar doors as landing door this lift is completely incorporated in the sundeck bar.
The demands made upon marine lifts are very special as anyone acquainted with the sea will know. A ship is almost always in motion, the direction and rhythm of the motion continuously changing. Vessel movement, vibration, fire proofing, escape routes and cable assembly all demand special requirements for safety and functioning.
The danger of fire is always present, this specially so in areas like the galley which have most often a landing for the dumbwaiter. Safety is a major issue on ships therefore equipment has to comply with class A60 IMO-SOLAS standards. These standards demand that lift trunking will be constructed to prevent passage of smoke and flames between decks and that lift doors will hold back flames and smoke at least during the period as given by these applicable rules and standards.
