Clipper
The Clipper is used on a new generation of sub sea tools (Remotely Operated Vessel – ROV), the first model being named Promaster. The Promaster offers a radical change in the manner sub sea work is being carried out, addressing the problems of working in deep water, resulting in cost reductions of up to 50% of operations carried out using conventional methods.

The Clipper embraces with clips the lifting rope and umbilical(s) which connect the ROV to the main ship at an interval of 10 meters in order to avoid twisting of the lines and reduce the Vortex shedding. These clips are synthetic spacers specially designed for the Clipper. As the umbilical(s) and lifting rope have different surface textures, their drag coefficient will be different as well. This would result in different catenaries, especially as tensions in these cables are not the same. Using the clips, we ensure that at any depth the cables are kept together. These clips are installed and removed automatically with the lines moving at speeds of up to 2.3 m/s. Heave compensation on this system makes working with the ROV also possible on rough seas.
