RETF

TBV developed and build the Rotary Expansion Test Facility (RETF) for the Research & Development department of Shell in Rijswijk, The Netherlands. With this installation a revolutionary oil and gas drill technology is tested. The diameter of the casing of the pit is getting smaller the deeper the drill pit goes with the conventional way of drilling. This is because a pit is drilled in stages and the casing of the next stages goes through the precious one into the pit. This causes a huge loss in capacity. With Solid Expandable Tubular Technology / Monodiameter Technology the casing is expanded to the same diameter as the previous casing in order to create a monodiameter the whole length of the drill hole. The RETF is a key in the development of Solid Expandable Tubular Technology / Monodiameter Technology for the oil production industry. All the conditions, for example forces, string weights and torque of an oil or gas production rig in the field can be generated at this compact indoor installation. A special wish of the customer was a low weight (45 ton) of the installation compared to the hydraulic power (500 tonf).
